This painting was inspired by Lightning Ridge, the only place in Australia where these rare black opals are found. The flowing textures and embedded forms reflect the Earth’s hidden treasures, the ancient geological forces, and the mystique of the opal fields. Just as black opals shimmer with the shifting light, this work captures the dirt roads crisscrossing around the mountainous ridge. The beauty, rarity and the spirit of the Australian outback is captured here in this painting.
